If you have a fulltime job, remember looking for a job is a full time job. There are only 24 hrs in a day. You need a lot of discipline and an action plan to be successful.  There are two key words in being successful today:  Preparation and Rehearsal.  Preparation is research, information, knowledge, and facts and rehearsal is you only get one shot, make it your best shop. If you can’t dedicate time to your search, than hire someone to do the tedious work such as resume and research.  You need to focus on the actions not the activities.
When the job market is as competitive as it is today, you have to separate yourself from the competition, and use all the resources that are available to you.  90% of the jobs today are gotten by networking.  Networking in person and networking by telephone.
Hiring managers are shopping.  There is a lot of great talent in the market place today and they want to make sure they have made a good decision and that the candidate is a good fit for the company. The perfect candidate is the one everyone wants. Have you asked for the job???

This is a sales market!  90% of the jobs are gotten by networking.  You have to sell yourself.  The reason we have so many unemployed people today is that they can’t sell themselves.  Two major complaints I hear from employers is “individuals can’t communicate what they want to do and they can’t communicate how their skills are transferrable to my industry.  When you are networking and you are standing in front of a decision maker he or she is going to make a decision in the first 60 seconds.  Do I want this person representing me, my company, or my product? Most unemployed people are limiting themselves.  They are spending way too much time on the internet.  I hear people say, “I have submitted 75 resumes on the job boards and gotten no responses."Stop doing what doesn’t work.  I guarantee if you got in front of 75 people and engaged them in conversation, you would be employed today.
