Surround yourself with people who share your vision, believe in you and want you to succeed. Ask them to hold you accountable to your action plan. Some of my clients have a buddy system. Make your goal part of you and your life.

To achieve a goal it must be in your mind consistently. Verbalize it everyday to others and to you. Surround yourself with visuals. Post your action plan where you can see it. Have a picture of your completed goal. Some of my clients have a beginning picture and as they move closer to their goal the picture changes. Write statements or affirmations in present tense for example, I am... Write in your journal and last but not least, read, execute and evaluate your action plan everyday

The best questions to ask are those that give the interviewer an opportunity to describe the business, the position, or other circumstances that lead to success in the position. Your questions should have four components: open-ended, thought provoking, substance and initiate conversation. These questions will also help you to understand what you are getting yourself into and whether you feel this is the job for you. This is your time to find out about the company, not conduct another interview.
Skilled networking develops good information not just a lot of information. Quality vs. Quantity. Many people believe networking is a short term project... getting your name in front of people and collecting business cards. Good networking is a long term, life long tool that not only helps you get a job, but can help you climb the corporate ladder and continually take your career to the next level. Talking to people because they might know something doesn't work. Ask for a contact to get more information on the industry. There are four important types of assistance your networking contacts can give you: information, contacts, connections and referrals.
Being a resource doesn't mean you only bring job opportunities. The people you network with may not be interested in the job market. They might be interested in additional business so you may be able to recommend prospective clients. Maybe you read an article about a topic you know they are interested in. Email or mail it to them. You might hear about a seminar or event and you can invite them. If you are a resource or a partner, they will reciprocate.
